It’s easy to get down as you get older. You see friends and family die, things start to hurt, and you see both the good and the evil in men’s hearts. Anyone who ages and doesn’t see the sadness and fallen nature of things from time to time must be living on another planet.

One bright and shining star though, that cannot be denied with aging is hard-earned wisdom. Yes, things can be tough as we age, but there’s also hope and joy, and moral growth.

I read this quote from Cicero and found it compelling enough to pass along.

“Great deeds are not done by strength or speed or physique; they are the products of thought, and character, and judgement.  And far from diminishing, such qualities actually increase with age.  If some god granted me the power to cancel my advanced years and return to boyhood, and wail once more in the cradle, I should firmly refuse.  Now that my race is run, I have no desire to be called back from the finish to the starting point!” – Cicero
